A Meiji-era collection of illustrations by Yuko Watanabe, a female artist and educator who taught Western-style painting. Illustrations feature "daily life" Japanese scenes of cooking, dressing, breastfeeding, gardening, home decorating, and samurai; all likely with a Western audience in mind. Printed in sienna or black ink; wrappers worn which affect ink at the imprint mark; a tidemark appears on the fore-edge. Small book plate from Kelly & Walsh, Ltd. from Yokohama.
