Includes frontispiece portrait of Fremont with tissue guard (which has a small 2-inch tear without loss) and 81 plates, including steel engravings, wood engravings, and photogravures. Stated "vol. 1" which is complete, there was not a second volume published. This is an ex-library copy with embossing on the title page and modest library markings. Light foxing; spine is sturdy and pages are clean. Very good. Item #384
John Charles Fremont (1813-1890) served as a United States Army officer and former United States Senator; this autobiography was published three years before his death, his wife Jessie Benton Fremont helped write the book.
