First popular edition, translated to English; the first Chinese edition was printed in 1925. Original cream wrappers with color illustration on both covers; black text to spines and covers. Both show light smudges and an occasional chip or small tear; overall, they present very well. Text is clean; small corner tear to the top corner of the flyleaf of volume 1; slight corner tears to pp. 614-24 of volume 2 with a small tape repair on the gutter of the title page with some residual damage to adjoining pages, no loss of text.
