Fenollosa at 'Kobinata,' Southern Alabama," also signed "Mary McNeil Fenollosa (Sidney McCall)" Brown boards, slightly rubbed at the edges; gilt stamping with fillets on the spine. Mary McNeil Fenollosa (1865-1954), publishing primarily under the pseudonym Sidney McCall, was a popular novelist and poet in the early decades of the twentieth century. She wed Ernest Fenollosa, renowned American expert on Japanese art and culture, after two failed marriages. Mary continued on to write 9 novels, multiple essays, and poems. (Encyclopedia of Alabama).
