Includes frontispiece and eight plates; crisp, illustrated dusk jacket with minimal chipping at the spine edge in bright blue publisher's cloth with minimal edgewear, contemporary gift inscription on half title page, "Carla Treppenhauer / Shanghai / Weihnachten [= Christmas, in German] 1939." Treppenhauer, likely the German national born in Shanghai, would have been 16 years old at the date of this inscription. Very good, with front panel of dust jacket laid in.
