Large Mexico City entertainment photography collection; 233 photographs (1940s-1960s)
Mexico City: XEW Radio, Telesistema Mexicana, Televicentro Guarneros, 1940s-1960s. Photographs are collected in 5 portfolio folders. This is a large photograph collection of Mexico City entertainment industry with a special focus on XEW/XEQ radio behind-the-scenes, candid, and staged photographs. Collection includes a total of 233 photographs; 78 are 8"x10", 111 are 5"x7", 15 are 5"x8", and 29 between the sizes of 3"x4" and 4"x6". Within the collection, 18 are signed or otherwise inscribed (to "Hector Cervera"). Cervera was an entertainment producer in Mexico City. The majority of the photos are black and white; 6 are in color. The condition varies; several photos have smudges or markings, some folds or the occasional chip. Over half of the photos have identifiers on the reverse side; many state the performer's name(s), other markings, stamps, and numbers are present of the back of the photos. This collection consists of roughly a third candid shots of singers at the microphone or backstage, a third studio headshots or otherwise staged sittings, and a third of studio, television, or stage performances with a cluster of photographs for a particular event or aired production.
